The SharpeSoft Estimator provides multiple different options for personalizing security policies inside the program. Login Policies are one such method, allowing admins to determine how best to manage users logging in. This article will focus on the Windows Login Policy.
This method uses Windows account information to quickly log the user in through SharpeSoft, Inc.’s database by matching a user’s current Windows login name with a login name found in the user database. Windows Login can only be used if the information recorded on the user Security list matches that of a Windows account.
Note: You MUST have a system admin account match a Windows account. This is to prevent potentially permanent lockouts. Attempting to do so otherwise will display the warning message below.
How to:
Select the Security menu from the main menu bar.
In the drop-down menu, select Security Policies.
The Security Policies window will automatically open to the Login Policies tab. If you have not made any previous security changes, your login policy will be defaulted to Program Login.
Select Window Login. If you do not have a SharpeSoft Estimator login that exactly matches the login information used to enter the SharpeSoft hosted environment, you will either need to change a current user, or add a new one.

Create/Edit a User
If needed, we can create a new user which matches our requirements for the Windows Login. Note that only users with high-ranking security clearance such as admins will have access to any of these windows. Notify a supervisor if you require assistance.
Select the Security menu from the main menu bar.
In the drop-down menu, select Browse Users.
The Security Users window will open, displaying a list of all users. Select Insert and create a new user with the same User Login as the login name associated with the hosted environment. Be sure to also make sure the user is an Administrator.
Hit OK and continue. You will now be allowed to swap to the Windows Login Policy.
