Summary Report with Alternate Groups in SharpeSoft Estimator

In the Bid Items window, you can either create Regular groups or Alternate groups. Regular groups typically are used for grouping like items (e.g.: sewer items, paving items, drainage items, etc.). Alternate groups are used for grouping items that are part of an alternate scheme, usually requested by the owner/agency at the time of the bid request. For example, you might create one group that uses plastic water pipe and another using clay water pipe. You could then see how the bid would vary depending upon which group was used.

However, when it comes to representing this information in the Summary Sheet, a necessary step before generating the final proposal, alternate group information may not be something we want showing up.

How to:

  • In the Bid Items window, locate the alternate groups that you do not want showing up in the Summary Sheet.

  • Right-click on the group or the individual items and select Toggle What-If Status. This will remove the costs from being "seen" by the Summary Sheet.

  • You can check these figures by generating a Summary Report in the main Reports table.

  • Once you have applied your markups, return to the Bid Items screen and once again select Toggle What-If Status to return the alternates to full status.

  • Now generate your proposal. The main and alternate group items will be separated and easy to distinguish.
