SharpeSoft IPM: Assigning Projects to Mobile Inspectors

Mobile Inspectors are a special kind of labor unit tied to the SharpeSoft IPM's companion product, also called Mobile Inspector. While IPM can be used efficiently by itself, it's the synchronization of data with Mobile Inspector that brings IPM's usage to the next level. To have your mobile inspectors begin to enter data from the field, they must first have projects assigned to them.

The mobile inspectors entered in the Mobile Inspectors window will be used to replicate project data onto the Mobile Inspector program, which will be used to identify your various remote field systems and to update data transferred to those systems.

How to

  • Select the Utilities menu on the main toolbar.

  • Select Mobile Inspectors from the dropdown menu.

  • The Mobile Inspectors window will open. Use this window to add, edit, or delete the Mobile Inspector program users you plan on having out in the field. The window also contains further information such as the last sync date, the name of the associated inspector's computer name, as well as database size and the edition of SQL currently running on said computer.

    • Database size and SQL edition are important to track, as your database may fill quickly. IPM will display a warning in the Mobile Inspectors window beginning when the database reaches 75% capacity.

  • Double-click on an inspector to bring up the Projects window.

  • Use this window to enter the projects for which the inspector displayed at the top of the window is responsible. To select the projects, click Insert and the Select Projects window will open. Mark your projects in that window (hold down the Ctrl key and click on each project you want). When you have finished marking the projects you want, press enter. The marked projects will be copied to this window.

  • Keep in mind that each time an inspector is assigned a new project, it must be entered in this window to ensure that his/her field system has the information needed to record project completion, tests and updates. Check this window occasionally to delete completed projects from the list. If completed projects are left on this list, the system will continue to unnecessarily check for updates when initiating a transfer of data to the inspector's remote field system.
