The Trench Profiler is an awesome tool capable of creating intricate trench designs with just a few clicks. While the Estimator system allows users to insert new material items into the Trench Profiler, the ability to link these items provides for a stronger basis of understanding costs and measurements associated with the trench.
Note: These instructions assume that appropriate bid items to be linked to the trench already exist elsewhere in the job. For more information on creating bid items, check out this blog here.
How to
Open the Trench Profiler window.
Inside the Trench Profiler window, select Add Fill Section. This will open the Add Fill Section window. If you are editing an existing material instead, highlight the material in question and select Edit Fill Section.
Select a material item with the Select the fill material button adjacent to the Material field.

The Material window will open. Make your selection and hit Select.

Finish entering other information into the Fill Section window if you have not already down so, such as the Description, Depth, Conversion Weight, Shrinkage/Fluff, and Waste.

Select the magnifying glass button next to the Bid Item field, this will open the Select Materials by Bid Item Window. Here you can choose which bid item to specifically link to this fill section from your bid item list.
Once this step is completed, hit OK in Add Fill Section window. A popup window will appear asking to choose a vendor for the fill material.
Navigate back to your trench, the new fill section complete with linked bid item will now be visible.

Saving a Trench Item Master
Much like Bid Item Masters, frequently used Trench Profiles can also be saved together as Trench Profile Masters to be used again for future jobs.
How to:
Inside the Trench Profiler list window, highlight the trench profile you wish to save as a trench profile master, then hit the Save button on the toolbar.
This will open the Save Trench Profiler Master window. Select a Group Code to be associated with the Trench. Selecting the magnifying glass will open the Trench Profile Group list to choose from. The option to adjust the Trench Profile code is also included. Hit OK.

The new Trench Profiler Master has been added. Now, when working inside another job, simply select the Insert Trench Profile Master button inside the Trench Profiler window to select your recently created Trench Profile Master.
