Copy a Job with Indirect Items in Estimator

Indirect items are overhead costs that do not necessarily pertain to specific bid items, but to the overall job. Indirect item costs in this window are ultimately spread to all of your bid items, except for any subcontractor or joint venture costs.


What this means is that if there is a set of indirect items that you know will be reliably used for multiple jobs, it's possible to set up a "template job" containing all of those indirect items already inserted. Then, you need to only copy the template job to have the indirect items carried over to each subsequent job.


Any bid items entered into a job being copied will also be copied to the new job. For a "template job" with repeatable indirect items, it's best to enter bid items into the job only after the copy has been made, to avoid copying inappropriate items.



Set Up Indirect Items

  • Click on the Job menu from the main toolbar.

  • From the drop-down menu, select Indirects.

  • Enter your indirect items here. For users who have never used the indirect item window before, indirect items are entered in the exact same way as normal bid items.


Copying an Entire Job

  • Open the Jobs list by clicking on Setup Jobs on the toolbar. You can also use the hotkey Ctrl+J.

  • Double-click on the job you want to copy in order to activate it.

  • Highlight your activated job. The job we are going to be copying is the Johnathan Test Job.

  • The Copy/duplicate selected job button will appear on the toolbar.

  • A popup message will appear asking if you want to copy the job.

  • Select Yes.

  • Now create a new Job Number for the copied job.

  • Press OK.

  • Your copied job will appear in the Jobs list, ready to go.
