Plug Items in SharpeSoft Estimator

A plug item in construction is usually in reference to bid items that were neglected during the course of the original bid for one reason for another; usually these items were missed, excluded, or underpriced.

These plug items are not associated with any table-based data, allowing users to enter any appropriate plug item information for a given item of work. The SharpeSoft Estimator does not require that these plug items be replaced before the final proposal is generated, opening up opportunities for a more familiar line-item based bidding process within the Estimator. Plug items are perfect for quickly filling in these sorts of gaps in a bid, while keeping the rest of the job on track.

As a note: plug items can only be inserted at the detail level of any individual bid item. If you are planning on a bid item only containing plug information, it's recommended to name the parent bid item something appropriate.

How to:

  • Inside the Detail level of a bid item, click on the Insert button, or right-click to open the context menu.

  • Select plug from the dropdown menu.

  • The plug item is now created. Enter an appropriate description, quantity, and unit of measurement like you would for any other detail item.
