Field Reporter Fast Trax: Easy Steps for Copying a Work Day to create a new Daily Log

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

Since it often takes more than one day to complete a budget item, your Daily Logs will often contain the same laborers and equipment for multiple days. When this is the case, you can save a lot of data entry time by making a copy of an existing workday, giving it a new date, and then modifying the quantities completed, labor and equipment hours, and other details as needed.

To copy a work day, do the following:

Open the ‘Copy Work Day’ window

Click the Daily Logs toolbar button, or go to the Job menu and click Daily Log. If you are working on a Foreman system, the latest Daily Log for the job you are working on will

open.

If you are using an Office system, the Daily Logs by Foremen window will open. There, double click on the log you want to copy and its Daily Log window will open.

  • NOTE: To learn more about Foreman vs Office systems, go to Setup > Systems/Devices and press F1 to view that Help topic.

In the Daily Log window, go to the toolbar and click Create a copy. Alternatively, you can select a work day from the Foreman’s Daily Logs window by clicking the toolbar button. In the window, click on the day you want and then click create copy in the toolbar.

Using either method will open the Copy Work Day window.

Set up the Copy

In the Copy Work Day window, enter your preferences into each field as discussed below.

When finished, click OK.

Job to copy from: This field will automatically display the description for the active job (the job you are currently working on). If you want to select a different job, click search and the Select a Job window will open. There, just double click on the job you want.

Work day to copy: If the copy procedure was initiated from the Daily Log window, this field will

automatically display the date for that report. If initiated from the Foreman’s Daily Logs window, the field will display the currently selected report. In either case, you can click search and the Select Foreman's Daily Log window will open where you can double click on the work day you want to copy.

New work day: This field will display the day after the latest existing report. To change the date, you can enter it directly into the field or click search to select the date from the system calendar. To copy the selected day's Labor, Equipment, Hours, and/or Materials, just check the appropriate boxes.

  • NOTE: When you copy a workday, the current rates from the Labor and Equipment tables are applied automatically.

When ready, click OK. Your copied daily log will open and it will be added to the Foreman Daily Logs window listed by its new date.
