WBS Codes in SharpeSoft Estimator

Updated: May 19

For project management purposes, you can assign WBS Codes for each item in a job bid. Work Breakdown Structure Codes (also known as WBS Codes) are codes related to a specific Work Breakdown Structure; a hierarchical schema used by project managers to help divide projects into manageable deliverable items. Work Breakdown Structures are usually either divided by deliverable-oriented, or phase-oriented projects. This window is used to enter WBS codes based on the metric required by your project manager. The picture included represents possible WBS Codes for a phase-based project.

How to:

  • Open the Bid Items window.

  • Click on the Options menu on the toolbar. From the dropdown menu, select Show WBS Code.

  • Now that the WBS Code column is visible, right-click inside of it to insert or edit a WBS Code.

  • Insert WBS Codes matching those required by your project manager.

Once all items are coded, the WBS report can be run outlining material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and other item costs of the selected items. The report is found in the Reports menu under Cost Detail Reports.
