SharpeSoft Estimator users have several different options when it comes to keeping their job data safe and secure. In this blog, we'll go over a summary of each of these archival methods, including ways to filter the information presented.
Reminder
Archiving jobs is a simple solution that will significantly reduce the time it takes to open and load new jobs, speeding up the process overall. It's always a good idea to get into the habit of archiving old jobs as you go, saving you headaches in the future.
Archiving Jobs in the Estimator: How to
Open the Estimator and navigate to the Jobs window.
Select the job(s) you wish to archive. To select multiple jobs, hold the Shift key and click on each job.
Select Actions in the toolbar.
In the drop-down menu, select Archive/Unarchive Jobs. In the Archive/Unarchive Jobs menu, users have the option to make all selected files "read-only" (this will disable editing of the jobs later unless the option is changed later).
Select Archive All.
To hide archived jobs, select Options from the toolbar, then click Hide Archived Jobs in the drop-down menu.
Filtering Jobs
In the Job widow itself, you can perform basic filtering by clicking any of the Sort by tabs above the title column.
These options include Sort by Number, Sort by Bid Date, Sort by Description, etc.
Filtering Jobs with the Wizard
For advanced filtering options, you can open the Filter Wizard by clicking on the Filter button on the far right of the toolbar.
In the first window, select a field to filter for. For example, selecting Job Description will apply all of the next filters only to the Job Description field.
Click Next.
Under Query Operation you will select how you want to filter for the field you just selected. Does Not Contain in this instance will show all jobs that do not contain a certain job description.
Click Next.
Now you will enter the Value to be filtered for. If we type in the term "paving," then all together the filter will show all jobs that do not contain the term paving in the job description.
Select Finish.
If you no longer need the filter or are dissatisfied, you can open the Filter Wizard again and select Delete.
